Las Vegas, NV - Community advocacy groups and individuals banded together to save 18 households from being evicted just a day before Thanksgiving. This crisis came about just weeks after the same advocates called for the community to help families in need.

After receiving notice that local courts had filed eviction orders for 18 residents, the Bridges on Tropicana Apartments Property Manager, Tiffany McNeely, desperately put a call out to the Las Vegas community for help. Her call was answered by many advocates who took action, preventing 18 households and several children from being thrust into homelessness just a day before Thanksgiving.

Despite the federal moratorium on rent payments and rental assistance programs available, these families did not receive the support they needed in time to avoid this crisis. Advocates from the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, and individuals working for various service programs banded together to make what seemed impossible, possible. Without the dedicated office team at the Bridges on Tropicana Apartments and individual donors like Antoinette Binford, who paid rent for three households and supplied $1,000 in gift cards for expenses, none of this would have happened.

When asked what led her to take action, Tiffany McNeely, who is also the Resource Director for Girlfriends Who Inspire Change, said, “I am not thriving unless my community is thriving.”
